High Winds Forecast - Boat Yard Storage
It's likely that we will see more stormy weather over the winter/spring period so please check your boat and make sure it's tied down to something heavy. Light and wide performance boats are especially vulnerable when the wind gets up but even the larger boats have been known to take flight in severe conditions.
Consider taking your mast down if there's a windy spell expected. If your boat does get blown over it's less likely to get damaged with the mast off.
If you haven't looked at your boat for some time then please do so soon Ropes get UV damage and things come loose over time so even if you left it well wrapped up it might not be anymore.
Finally and most important. If you have a boat in the boat park then it must be insured all year round. It's not just about damage to your boat - if it was to take off and damage three or four new and expensive boats nearby then it could leave you with a very big bill.
Tips For Securing Your Boat
Ground stakes with a strap over your whole boat can work well for all boats
A tyre filled with concrete and attached to your boat
Attaching your boat to a road base and then road base to the ground
In extreme winds, taking your mast down is almost nesscary in most situations
