Optional Taster Session

Before coming on a sailing course with us you may wish to get a taste of sailing beforehand; This can be booked as one on one, group or family sessions with Aberdeenshire Sailing Trust

Level One

This practical entry-level course gets you out on the water and in introduces the skills  required to sail dinghies in inshore waters (such as the harbour here at Peterhead!)

Level Two

This course will improve your confidence & independence (ie. sailing solo, no instructor on board).   This course will build on all the skills learned during the RYA level 1 course and after completion you will be ready to join in and enjoy all club activities!

Also a good choice as a refresher if you haven’t sailed in a few years.

Advanced Modules

AST offer a number of courses to improve your sailing and develop discipline specific skills! Including:

Level 3 (Better Sailing) - Building on the skills from Level 2 and some more advanced manoeuvres.

Start Racing  - Taught in singlehanders.   To give confidence to start racing at a sailing club.

Seamanship Skills - This course is taught in double handers, and packs in lots of practical skills.   It also will increase your understanding of how boats work to enable you to sail them more efficiently.

Volunteering

As well as ensuring our activities can run, volunteering means anyone get get involved, learn new skills and enjoy the social opportunities at the club. Roles include: Beach Master (helping folk launch and recover their boats). The most important job of managing the teas and coffees and making sure the clubhouse is maintained in a tidy state for all. We organise maintenance days where everyone is welcome to help out!

Keep an eye on Spond for the various roles you can help out with or contact Martin or any committee member at anytime to discuss!
