Club Racing Intro and Friday Sailing

This weekend was another fantastic one at the club, with plenty of activity both on and off the water and a great mix of sailors getting involved across all ages and experience levels.

Friday evening brought ideal conditions for a busy night on the bay. We had a wide variety of boats out on the water, with some members taking part in racing while others simply enjoyed getting out for an evening sail. It was great to see so many people making the most of the conditions and enjoying time on the water together.

We also welcomed back our Fun Friday Junior sessions for the season. These sessions are always a brilliant way for younger sailors to build confidence, develop skills, and most importantly enjoy being out sailing in a relaxed and supportive environment. It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces back at the club.

Saturday then saw us run our Introduction to Racing Day, which was aimed at members who were new to racing or looking to build confidence before joining regular club racing activities.

The session was designed to be informal and welcoming, helping sailors understand the basics of racing without the pressure of a normal race environment. Across the day we had 15 people out on the water practicing racing starts, learning simple race courses, improving boat handling, and getting more comfortable taking part in club activities.

One of the best parts of the day was seeing sailors of different ages and experience levels encouraging each other and progressing throughout the session. There was plenty of opportunity to ask questions, try things multiple times, and gain confidence in a supportive setting.

A big thank you goes to everyone who helped organise and run the weekend’s activities, as well as all the members who came along and got involved. Seeing the club so active and welcoming is exactly what makes these weekends special.

We are looking forward to seeing even more people out on the water over the coming weeks as the season continues.
