Pride Of Buchan Awards

We were proud to welcome local councillors to Peterhead Sailing Club to present two Pride of Buchan awards — one to the club and one to our dedicated volunteer, Martin Thain.

The awards were presented during a visit by Councillors Anne Simpson, Colin Simpson, Leeann McWhinnie and Buchan Area Committee Chair Cllr Dianne Beagrie, who joined us at the club for the presentation. The club award was accepted on behalf of Peterhead Sailing Club by Jack Walls.

These awards recognise the hard work of our volunteers and the positive role the club plays within Peterhead and the wider Buchan community. For many years, the club has provided a welcoming and inclusive place for people of all ages to learn to sail, develop confidence and enjoy being on the water.

Martin received a personal award for his outstanding contribution to the club, particularly in growing youth sailing, mentoring young people and helping develop future leaders. His commitment and passion have made a lasting impact on both the club and many young sailors.

We would like to thank the councillors for visiting and presenting these awards, and thank all our members, volunteers and supporters. This recognition belongs to the whole club community.
