Big Bear Voyage Visits Peterhead Sailing Club
Peterhead Sailing Club welcomed the Big Bear Voyage 2026 crew and Pudsey Bear during their 2,200-mile UK sailing challenge, raising awareness and funds for BBC Children in Need.
Clubhouse Kitchen Refurbishment Complete
Peterhead Sailing Club has completed a major refurbishment of its clubhouse kitchen, creating a modern, accessible space for members, volunteers and community groups. The project has transformed one of the club's most-used facilities, improving accessibility, functionality and comfort while supporting year-round sailing, training and community activities.
Volunteers Week 2026
Peterhead Sailing Club is proud to recognise and thank the many volunteers who help keep the club running, growing and thriving. During Volunteers' Week, we celebrate the individuals who give their time both on and off the water, supporting sailing activities, events, maintenance, administration and the future development of the club.
Searider Rib Upgrade Work
Our Avon Searider RIB, now officially named Phoenix, has returned following a major refurbishment supported through grant funding and volunteer effort.
Youth Boat Refurb Project
An old unused Laser has been brought back to life after nearly a year of work stripping, repairing and rebuilding the boat. With support from members and funding from Buchan Youth Panel, it’s now back on the water with a fresh look, upgraded kit and even its original stickers recreated to preserve the boat’s history.

Solar Diverter Installation
A practical step towards improving energy efficiency at the clubhouse, using excess solar energy to heat water, reduce costs, and support year-round activity.

Pride Of Buchan Awards
We had local Councillors join us on Monday night to present 2 Pride of Buchan awards, one for the club and one for Martin. It’s really great to see our club and Martin being recognised for their hard work.
Building Painting
At the start off the month we got a first coat of paint on the front of the clubhouse. This had been a job we had been planning for a while but the logistics of working at height proved challenging.
Thanks to two of our committee and a day of hard labour we are lucky to have the front complete in time for winter!

Wooden Spoon Hansa Launch
Aberdeenshire Sailing Trust were delighted to welcome Norman Fiddes from Wooden Spoon Charity and World Champion in the Hansa class Rory McKinna to launch our brand new Wooden Spoon Hansa 303.
End Of Winter For Our Youth Group
Spring is here and that means our second winter with Monday Youth Group is over. All our group members from 2023/24 have stayed with us and it's been good to welcome some new young people joining us.
Going Green - Leds & Recycling
We've upgraded our clubhouse with energy-efficient LED lighting and introduced new recycling posters to promote sustainability. Plus, we're exploring more ways to reduce our environmental impact.

Aberdeen Tall Ships Sail Trainee Opportunity
We had a fantastic evening with our Monday Youth Group, where we welcomed local Peterhead sailor and Tall Ships Aberdeen ambassador, Finn Dixon. Where he talked with our young people about what the Tall Ships Races are and how they can get involved. We would like to thank Finn for giving up his time and sharing his amazing experiences with us!
Peterhead Solar Panels 4 Years On
Attached is our 2024 ‘wrapped’ taken from our solar panels and battery wall. As always we are looking at further ways of funding a greener future at the club and reducing our reliance on the grid.
Youth Takes The Helm
Peterhead Sailing Club members gathered for the Annual General Meeting and Prizegiving earlier this month, celebrating another successful year on and off the water. The evening marked the end of Martin Thain's four-year term as Commodore and the appointment of Jack Walls as the club's new Commodore, alongside recognising the achievements of members and volunteers throughout the season.
Freya’s Sailing Journey Raising Mental Health Awareness
We are pleased to meet Freya who is in Peterhead over the harsher winter months whilst she's on her journey round the UK raising awareness for mental health.
Saying Goodbye To Our Committee Boat
Today we said goodbye to our old committee boat as it left Peterhead for a new home nearby. We hope the new owner enjoys many happy hours on the water.
