Supporting The ‘Festival Of Wind’

The Lido at Peterhead Sailing Club was once again a hive of activity as we welcomed back the Windsurf SUP Club and Scottish Fin & Foil for their annual weekend of windsurfing, winging and foiling.

This year’s event, known as the Festival of Wind, certainly lived up to its name. With plenty of wind and sunshine across the weekend, more than 50 people took to the water.

We were pleased to support the event for the fifth year, providing use of our club facilities and powerboats to help keep everyone safe on the water. Our volunteers were kept busy throughout the weekend supporting the event, from safety cover in the harbour to helping with the race courses.

There was a slightly different feel to this year’s event, with the weekend bringing together racing, open training and taster opportunities. It was great to see experienced windsurfers, wing foilers and foilers sharing the water alongside people getting their first taste of these sports.

The weekend also highlighted just how much use the waterfront can accommodate, with a wide range of activities taking place alongside the club’s usual sailing. From the water to the beach, and even a sauna back at the club, there was plenty going on throughout the weekend.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the event happen, particularly the Windsurf SUP Club and Scottish Fin & Foil, as well as the volunteers, coaches, safety teams and everyone who travelled to Peterhead to take part.

It was fantastic to see the club and waterfront so busy, and we’re always pleased to support our affiliated organisations and help make the most of the facilities here at The Lido.
